Since starting out life on Kickstarter, Shovel Knight has always had close ties with Nintendo systems. Nintendo even acknowledged this by adding Yacht Club’s popular indie hero to its all-star fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as an assist trophy.
This close bond with Nintendo appears to have paid off – with Yacht Club Games’ Sean Velasco and David D’Angelo recently revealing Switch game sales account for “25% of total sales on all platforms”. As “wild” as the sales currently are on the Switch, the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove collection is still selling “decently” on other platforms.
